Peterborough Cathedral announced this week that it has reached its £410,000 fund-raising target and can go ahead with re-pitching the Cathedral's magnificent late 19th Century Hill organ.

Changing the organ from "Old Philharmonic" to "Standard" pitch has been an ambition for many years. It will make it possible for the organ to play alongside other musical instruments, opening the way for exciting collaborations with other musicians. This is currently out of the question because of the discordant sound of the two different pitches playing together.

OfO students have been lucky enough to experience the cathedral organ up close, with masterclasses taking place there during the annual Summer Course. The cathedral has also hosted many Oundle International Festival events, including organ recitals by the renowned artists who tutor on the Summer Course.
